Igniting the Game - Rugby League Federation Ghana Launch Strategic Plan for 2025-2030

Published: Tuesday, 20th May, 2025

As the season opener kicked off at the University of Ghana Rugby League Stadium on Sunday, May 11, the RLFG Board also presented its ambitious five-year strategic plan to grow the sport of rugby league across Accra and beyond.

The 'Igniting the Game' Strategy focuses on five key pillars that will act as the catalyst for growth throughout Ghana up to 2030: Participation, Performance, Workforce and People, Competition, and Engagement.

These pillars are designed to support our current stakeholders and communities while also attracting new audiences, aligning new partners, and welcoming anyone who wishes to join our mission of ensuring rugby league thrives throughout the country.

Igniting the Game is an exciting new era for the RLFG and the sport in Ghana. Although ambitious in our targets, we are also realistic that tripling our metrics, aiming to be the number one rugby league playing nation in Africa and excelling in our stakeholder management will not be easy. The focus of the strategy however, will remain wrapped around our people and the workforce who bring our game to life day in and day out. From the medical teams supporting our players in the field, to the teachers and coaches present in our schools and communities, and the administrators who make all activity possible, we have ensured a whole community approach — wanting all who join us on our journey to feel welcome, and to be recognised for playing their part. Importantly, we aspire to cement the legacy of those who have brought us to this point whilst inspiring the next generation of Ghanaian-based rugby league champions
