“Rugby league is more than just a sport—it is a tool for community building, character development, and opportunity creation,” said Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, General Manager of RLFG. “Partnering with municipal assemblies like Ayawaso West is essential to reaching the grassroots and building a strong foundation.”

The presentation was met with enthusiasm and interest from committee members, who acknowledged the sport’s potential to contribute to holistic youth development.

“The Rugby League Federation Ghana has demonstrated a clear and thoughtful strategy for engaging young people through sport,” said Mr. James Odoi Wilson, Head of Sports at the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly. “As a Municipality, we are committed to supporting initiatives that empower the next generation, and rugby league aligns well with that mission.”

The Chairman of the meeting, Hon. David Kofi Sparks Anorlejamah, praised the RLFG’s approach and reaffirmed the Assembly's interest in collaborative action.

“This is a necessary and timely conversation,” the Chairman remarked. “The Assembly welcomes partnerships like this that promote sports as a development tool, and we look forward to working closely with the Federation to bring this to life within Ayawaso West.”

With the introduction and roll-out of rugby league within the municipality now underway, the RLFG anticipates further engagements with local leaders and stakeholders, ensuring that schools and communities benefit directly from structured sports programs.
