
NSA Director General Motivates Ghana Women’s Rugby League Team Ahead of Nigeria Test Series
The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, paid a surprise visit on Sunday, September 28th, to the Ghana Women’s National Rugby League Team, the Leopardess, as they wrapped up their final training session at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium.
The Leopardess are set to travel to Lagos for a highly anticipated three-game international rugby league test series against Nigeria, scheduled for October 4th, 7th, and 11th, 2025.
During his visit, the Director General spent quality time with the players, offering words of encouragement and personally engaging with the squad. He urged the team to remain focused, disciplined, and united as they prepare to represent Ghana on foreign soil.

His presence provided an extra boost of motivation for the players, who expressed their appreciation for his support. The NSA Director also reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to backing the growth of women’s sports in Ghana and emphasized the Leopardess’ role as pioneers in flying the country’s flag high on the international rugby league stage.
Currently ranked 24th in the world, the Leopardess will be represented by: Accra Ladies – Elizabeth Adongo (Captain), Millicent Njomaba, Jacqueline Ansah, Hilaria Wuaku (Assistant Captain), Princess Avorkah, Gracelove Hammond, Fati Bhom, Ivy Benyah, Gifty Sowah, Eunice Lawoe
Awutu Ladies – Celestine Kumah, Mariama Musah, Minawara Alhassan, Henrietta Arhin
Schools – Grace Nketiah (Pentecost SHS), Maria Tii Pegyine (St. Michaels SHS), Kesse Mary (Afigya Secondary Technical), Christiana Ndewine (Aduman Secondary)
Coaches – Riddick Alibah, Julius Fiakpornu
With the Director General’s encouragement fresh in their minds, the Leopardess now turn their attention to Nigeria with renewed confidence, determined to bring glory to Ghana.
